How I Started and Where I am Today

I began showing dogs in 1995.  My fist dog was a Great Dane named Trudy.  A lovely companion, Trudy did not turn out to be a terrific show dog.  I learned a great deal about the sport and realized I needed to find a breed that I was more comfortable with in the show ring.

That is when I happened upon the Spinone.  When I got my first Spinone I quickly determined that this was a truly wonderful breed.  They were fun, had fabulous sweet temperaments and they loved to do things with their people.  The Spinoni were new in the AKC and there was a great deal of variation in what was in the show ring.  I read the standard, understood it, and realized that there were characteristics that I was seeing that I wasn’t really comfortable with. It was then that I realized I would like to breed this lovely ancient breed.

My first bitch, Ch. Risky Business Celia, was a lovely girl.  She was one of the first AKC champion Spinone and she quickly earned the first leg of her junior hunt title.  Unfortunately, Celia had a problem with her eyes and could not be bred.  She is now a fabulous matriarch and companion for my family and my other dogs.

Ch. Bionda Perla del Abruzzi, bred by Janet and Victor Renzi, was my second Spinone.  She obtained her AKC championship quickly, taking a number of Best of Breed wins.  She is a lovely girl with wonderful bone, a beautiful head and great movement.  She is a very silly girl who loves to play and she has a humorous way of trilling when it is time for me to hurry up and make her dinner.

Bionda is the bitch I decided would be the beginning of my Di Parma Spinoni kennel.  I have been very proud of the puppies Bionda has produced with two different males.  All of the puppies are sound in conformation and temperament.  They have gone to show homes and pet homes and have been wonderful additions to each and every family.

In 2005, Barba Bagnata CaraMia di Bricco came to my family from Tammara Morgan in Bumpass, Virginia.  Cara Is a niece to Bionda and is a brown roan.  She is a beautiful girl with personality galore, a beautiful head, lovely movement and does she love to show off.  Whether it be in the show ring or the hunt environment CaraMia gives it her all and shows everyone what she is made of.
